With solemn reverence, we commemorate Sonja Elizabeth Wood (Kentville, Nova Scotia), born in Newmarket, Ontario, whose life came to an end on October 15, 2024 at the age of 63, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Chester Wood and Betty Wood; and her aunts and uncles, Bill Wood, Arthene Wood, Ronnie Wood, Mack MacLeod, Sally Emery, Angus Russell and Clary Russell.
She is survived by: her husband Chris Mansky; her daughters, Ayla (Tebogt-Wood) and Alysha Wood (Travis); her grandson Aubrey J. Kelly; her siblings, Kevin Wood (Tanya), Tammy Snider (Danny) and Trevor Wood (Crystal); her nieces and nephews, Stephen, Sarah, Marc, Kristofer and Richie; and her aunts and uncles, Lillian MacLeod, Jim Wood (Tina), Lorna Wood, Johnnie Wood (Leona), Jim Russell (Helen) and Hennie Vessio.
Sonja had seen the newscasts about starvation among the Ethiopian peoples, and government had sent one airlift of supplies (but had no plans to send a second shipment), so she was going to walk around the entire province of Nova Scotia with her sheepdog Sampson, for protection, to raise awareness and donations to put the Ethiopian situation back into the news, cycle.
