He was predeceased by: his parents, Silas Thompson and Flossie Thompson (Steadman); and his siblings, Irene Mattatall (Don), Newton Thompson and Raymond Thompson.

He is survived by: his close friend Rosalyn; his grandson Stephen (Claudia); his daughters, Sharon Tanner (John) and Sue Gibbon (Tim); his grandchildren, Michele Thompson, Mark Thompson (Abby), Jessie Lipsit (Andrew), Katie Cawthra (Chris), Colten Tanner (Crystal), Travis Gibbon (Victoria) and Todd Gibbon-Thorne (Tyler); his great grandchildren, Jacob, Owen Thompson, Cameron, Joshua Lipsit, Theo Cawthra, Lachlan and Avery Gibbon; his sisters-in-law, Wendy McCorkill and Mary Thompson; his nephew Greg Grant (Michelle); his great-nephew Lawson; and his great-niece Zoey.
