He was predeceased by: his parent John Dan; his siblings, Geordie of Creignish, Alexander (Jean), Hugh (Florence), Jamie (Ann), Lauchie (Mary), Isabel MacNeil (Dan C.), Immaculata Mack Hartford (Sonny) and Rose MacKinnon (Raymond); and his brother-in-law Harry Dykes of Inverness.

He is survived by: his parent Margaret Christine Walker (Nicholson); his wife Sandra; his children, Angie MacDonnell (Dwayne) of Inverness, Walter (Kayla) of Inverness and Tanya Doucet (Redmond) of Inverness; his grandchildren, Mallory, Alex Dan, Myra, Miranda and Logan; his siblings, Micky (Betty) and Lorainne Dykes of Inverness; and his sister-in-law Caroline Walker of Creignish. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to the Inverness Hospital Foundation.
