He is survived by: his wife Linda Spinks; his children, Sandra Spinks (Kevin MacDonald) and Colin Spinks; his grandchildren, Amanda Meisner, Kyle Meisner (Emily Oickle), Scott Meisner (Jamika Meisner) and Derek Spinks Jr.; his great grandchild Jackson; and his sister Rose Zena. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“I’m very saddened by the passing of Derek great husband,father grandfather, and great grandfather . But more than that to me as a friend who helped me through some hard times over the years with giving me employment in the late nineties early two thousands. To me he was great ambassador to the Darts Community of Nova Scotia, if he wasn’t Organizing tournaments or selling darts supplies. He played in many dart leagues over the years as well. My condolences to the whole family.💐”
