He was predeceased by: his parents, Gladys DeGruchy and Dan DeGruchy; his siblings, Ethel, Lester and Roy; his son Conrad; and his great grandchild Teddie Winslet.

He is survived by: his wife Marcella Power; his children, Yolanda (Stewart), Richard (Sherry) and Charlene (Michael); his daughters-in-law, Stephanie and Ashley; his grandchildren, Candace, Richie, Tiffany, Dylan, Kaitlin, Kristie, Morgan, Mitchell, Cassidy, Avery, Jakob and Quinten; his siblings, Stella, Hazel, Priscilla and Johnny; his close friend Molly; and his friend Bill McVicar. He is also survived by son Conrad's 3 children.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the C. L. Curry Funeral Home (135 College St, Antigonish, NS B2G1X9). A funeral service was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Peter's Church (45 Old Trunk Rd, Monastery, NS B0H1W0).
