He is survived by: his siblings, Margaret Bowen (Paul), Carolyn Gerrish (Jim), Alan (Susan) and David (Elizabeth); his wife Alice Moriarty (Strugnell); and his daughter Megan of Halifax. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Stephen Lewis Foundation, The Brunswick St Mission or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
