She was predeceased by: her husband Emil Fendert; and her brother Paul Illian (Nita). She is survived by: her children, Eileen Holden (Bruce) and Richard Fendert (Laurie); her grandchildren, Timothy Grummett, Matthew Grummett, Nicola Fendert-Domanski (Mark) and Victoria Fendert-Maloney (Jake); her great grandchildren, Roland and Finley Domanski; and her siblings, Friedhelm Illian (Susan) and Siegrid Kujat (Waldemar).

Memorial donations on behalf of Helga can be made to the QEII Hospital Foundation (Transitional Heart Failure Clinic) or to Northwood Homecare.
