He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hicks and Marie Hicks; his sister Anita Neatt; his brother-in-law Ronnie Neatt; his sister Donna; and his brother-in-law Mick McTiernan.

He is survived by: his son Colin; his daughter-in-law Kate of Port Williams; his daughters, Jacqui of Hammonds Plains and Cathy of Bedford; his grandchildren, Daniel, Jonathan, Jordan, Ethan, Ella, Ryan and Caroline; and his siblings, Margaret McTiernan, Kathy Moller (Hans) and John Hicks (Bette). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
