He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his children, Kim Ellamay (Fredrick), Scott (Erin) and Heather; the mother of his children Grace; his grandson Alex; his sisters, Sandra Murray and Carolyn Sherlock (John); and his son-in-law Allen. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Don was recognized by the Governor General for special contribution to the Canada Remembers Program, marking the 50th Anniversary of WW2 (1995/96).
