He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Slade and Estella Slade (Nickerson); his former wife Joyce Slade (Romans); and his siblings, Walter, Billy, Arnold and Estella.

He is survived by: his wife Catherine Wilson; his children, Karen Ramey (Kevin), Darren (Geri) and Gary (Cathy); his grandchildren, Courtney (Braden) and Tyler (Maddy); his stepchildren, Catherine Bent (Steve) and Michael Wilson (Natalie); and his brother Leo (Maxine). He is also survived by five step grandchildren.
