He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Bright and Martha Bright (Tynes) of Weymouth, N. S.; and his siblings, Michael, Kendall, David, Dean and Cerena.
He is survived by: his wife Valarie; his brothers, Allison (Connie), Randy (Mary), Bradford (Trina) and Harland (Cheryl); his nephews, Jason Bright and Michael Tynes; his friend Alana; and also, Angelina (Harley), Wanetta, Lorita, Dalena (Joe), Nadine (Glen) and Theona.
In lieu of flowers a donation in Derrick's memory may be made to Sickle Cells Disease Association of Atlantic Canada.
