He was predeceased by: his parents, Rolph Giles and Amy Giles; his wife Sheila; and his sisters, Margery and Muriel.

He is survived by: his children, Nicola Clarke of Greenfield and Richard Giles (Kim) of Waterdown; his grandchildren, Jeff (Lindsay), Bridgewater, Cory (Mikaela), Sean (Makayla), Halifax, Ryan of Waterdown, Ontario, Tim (Ashley) and Sarah Mississauga (Brent) of Ontario; his great grandchildren, Blair, Keegan, Max and Nate; and his nieces, Gillian of England and Elizabeth of England.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
