He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Jacobs and Helene Jacobs (Wilkin); and his sisters, Nancy Lee Bolton (Dick), Shirley Jacobs (Arden), Peggy Maskell and Judy Gonyea (Dick).

He is survived by: his wife Sally (Hubley); his children, Helene Burns (Gary) of West Pennant, Brian Jacobs (Patsy) of Halifax, Bruce Jacobs (Jackie Peltz) of Winnipeg and Heather Bissonnette (Anthony) of Lr; his grandchildren, Bruce Burns (Yuhui Yu), Daniel Burns (Laura Peek) of Halifax, Sam Jacobs (Danielle Proutt), CJ Jacobs (Andrew Wiebe), Noah Penner of Winnipeg, David Bissonnette (Émilie) and Anna Bissonnette of Lr; his great grandchildren, Sophia and Faye Burns; and his family David.

Charitable donations in memory of David may be made to St. Paul's United Church, 173 Old Sambro Rd, Halifax.
