He was predeceased by: his parents, David and Clara; and his brothers, James, Bobby and Harold.

He is survived by: his sons, Paul (Elaine) and Alan (Brenda); his close friend Cathy Dacey; his grandchildren, Melissa (Jordan), Ryan, Jessica (Shawn) and Russell (Udell); his great grandchildren, Carter, Charlotte and Harrison; his siblings, Bill (Dartmouth), Wayne (Middle Sackville), Shirley Pottie (Calgary), Patsy Thomson, Betty Burke and Linda Wambolt; and also, Christopher and Timothy.

Donations can be made in David's name to Canadian Blood Services or Blind Sports Nova Scotia.
