He was predeceased by: his father Roland MacDonald; his sister Nancy; and his brother-in-law Beaver MacAskill (John). He is survived by: his wife Donna (Halliday); his children, Lori, Aaron and Joel (Michelle) of New Westminster, BC; his grandchildren, Ellie, Brad, Callum and Chloe MacDonald; his niece Keri MacAskill; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Halliday (Cathy) and Debbie Halliday Denny (Nick).

Donations in his memory can be made to GOALS, Guysborough, Guysborough Food Bank, or the Breakfast Program at Chedabucto Elementary School.
