He was predeceased by: his wife Marlene; his sister Mabel Grube (Bill); and his parents, Larkey Heipel and Harvey Heipel. He is survived by: his daughter Kathy Hergott (John Duffin); his grandchildren, Michelle Hergott (Thai Ros), Nicole Hergott and Dan Heipel-Legge; his great grandchildren, Tylynn, Tyler Ros, Madisyn Hergott and Chelsea Kann; his niece Pat Tales; and his close friend Mary Benoit.
