She was predeceased by: her husband Bernard Hayes; her granddaughter Valerie Marie Hayes; her daughter-in-law Druscillia MacPherson; her siblings, Bertha, Paula and Frank; and her brothers-in-law, Pius, William "Yum", Tom and Allan.

She is survived by: her mother Zoe Bettens; her children, Bernard Sydney (Agnes Deceased), Irene Halifax (late Robert) and Gordon Glace Bay (Sharon); her siblings, John "Jack" Bettens Glace (Catherine), Suzanne MacQuarrie and Agnes MacPherson; her sister-in-law Andrea Bettens of Glace Bay; her foster children, Theresa Gallant Glace (Al) and Shirley Delveechio Halifax; and her friend Eddie Hillier. She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Donations in Simone's memory are suggested to the Diabetes Association, the Cancer Society or charity of one's choice.
