Rita Mae Layes Obituary

We are sad to announce that on January 9, 2022, Rita Mae Layes (Glace Bay, Nova Scotia), born in Birch Grove, Nova Scotia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Smith and Emma Smith (Drover); her husbands, Aulay Peach and Lloyd Layes; her sons, Terry and Trevor; her grandson Bradley; and her siblings, Sadie, Ella, Mary, Gladys, Olive, Muriel, Myrtle, Eugene and Kenneth.

She is survived by: her sister Shirley; her children, Roy (Shauna), John (Cynthia), Nancy (Laurie) and Paul; and her grandchildren, Angela (Patrick), Erin (Alex), Leanna (Aaron), Richard (Jenna), Anthony (Angela), Shelly and Jennifer (Blaine). She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Regretfully, there will be no funeral service due to Covid restrictions.

Donations in Reta's memory may be made to St. Mary's Church.
