He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Brushett and Florence Brushett; his siblings, Alex (Liz), George (Pat), Irene (Alex), Lillian (Saunders) and Dorothy (Sam); the mother of his children Marguerite; and his close friend Betty MacNeil.

He is survived by: his children, Don (Shelley) of Bedford, Ron (Joyce) of Red Deer and Marlene of Glace Bay; his grandchildren, Kristina (Michael), Danny (Vanessa), Ashley, Bryce and Jay; his great grandchildren, Alex, Kiera, Hannah, Nicholas, Ashton and Bridget; and also, Joey and Karen.
