He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael O'Connell and Elizabeth O'Connell (Gouthro); his siblings, Carol Helle, Patricia Baillie (Patsy), Michael, Dan Joe, John Blaise and Adrian; and his siblings-in-law, Jerome Kelly, Brian Baillie and Linda O'Connell (Aucoin).

He is survived by: his son Bradley; his daughter-in-law Kim; his grandchildren, Harrison and Lachlan; his siblings, Marie Kelly, Cathy Bird (Frank), Rose, Francis (Ruth) and Leo (Judy Nightingale); his siblings-in-law, John Helle, Mary O'Connell and Mary MacPhee O'Connell; and the mother of his child Joanne Fraser.
