She was predeceased by: her mother Brenda; her husbands, Fred Allt and Joseph Montgomery; her daughter-in-law Sheila; her granddaughter Stephenie; her brother Martin; and her siblings-in-law, Len and Lynda.
She is survived by: her children, Leslie (Dominique), Jane (Leo) and Stephen (Cindy); her grandchildren, Brian (Melissa), Sarah (Brad), Marcus (Hilary), Sean (Pam), Michael, Emma, Mado and Ben; her great grandchildren, Jaida, Kaylee and Kooper; her siblings, Linda, Nigel and Miles; and her stepdaughter Beth Montgomery.
Throughout her career, she received prestigious accolades such as The Progress Women of Excellence award for her contributions to education and research; the CRNNS Centennial Award of Distinction; and the Canadian Healthcare Association Award of Excellence for Distinguished Service. She also served as the President of RNANS and was appointed Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Health Research Foundation.
