She was predeceased by: her parents, George Phelan and Catherine Phelan (O'Connell); her daughter-in-law Rosemary McCormick; her stepfather Malcom Dort; and her stepbrothers, Joseph Dort and Edward "Teddy" Dort.

She is survived by: her husband Melvin; her son Leigh McCormick (Heather Hanson); her stepson Ronnie Clarke; her grandchildren, Dakota McCormick (Chantal Arsenault), Hayley McCormick (Justin Warner), Edmonton and Jenna Clarke; her sister Ellen Chesal (Tony); and her stepsiblings, Alice Pemberton, Mary Rourke, Dartmouth of Margaret Barnes, NL, Mike Dort (Mary), John Dort (Lorraine) and Cambridge. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
