He was predeceased by: his parents, Lello Barro and Ada Barro (Briggs); his wife Rosamond; his brother Wayne; his aunt Alice "Aussie"; and his uncle Johnnie Colton.

He is survived by: his children, Michael (Kathy) of Bessemer City, NC and Wendy Cates (Brent) of Gastonia, NC; his grandchildren, Stephen, Haley, Kearsten and Hendrix; his great grandchildren, Zackary, Julianna and Skyler; his siblings, Terry (Dianne) of Dartmouth, Lorna and Elizabeth of Halifax; his sister-in-law Millie; his cousins, Elizabeth "Lambie" Colton McDonald of Glace Bay and Everett Colton of Lowell; and his brothers-in-law, Bill and Rod. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
