He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Bent and Annie Bent (Dominey); his wife Kathleen (Burns); and his siblings, Edith, Dora, Reginald, Laurie and Herman.

He is survived by: his children, Donna Lee (Carl) of Windermere and Raymond Bent (Christine) of Nicholsville; his grandchildren, Nicole, Matthew, Gregory, Trevor, Nathan and Katelynn; and his great grandchildren, Makayla, Cassidy, Brayden, Ryan, Leanne, Rayna, Lena, Lawrence, Arthur and Christine.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
