He was predeceased by: his parents, Melborne Lutz and Ceritha Lutz; his wife Diane; and his siblings, Walter, Ernie, Benny and Gladys.

He is survived by: his children, Joyce Smith (Chad) of Ontario, Sheryl Leopold (Rick Weagle) of Berwick and Paul Durling (Samantha) of Ontario; his grandchildren, Jordan, Jessica, William, Megan, Alyssa, Amber, Kacey and Brody; his great grandchildren, Josiah, Paisley and Payton; and his sisters, Lillian Arnburg (Ernest) and Laura Williamson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dean's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada, or to a charity of choice.
