With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Frances Horne of Canso, Nova Scotia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 3, 2024. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Joan Frances Horne to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Reid and Ena Zwicker; her husband Rick Horne; her son James "Jimmy" Richards; the father of her child James "Jim" Richards Sr.; and her siblings, Bud Newell, Robert "Bobby" Newell, Michael "Mike" Newell, Elsie Megetto and Cathy Parker.

She is survived by: her son Stephen (Susanne); her grandchildren, Alexandra Blacklock (Corey) of Crystal Lake, ON and Ryan Duncan (Lexie) of Kirkland Lake, ON; and her siblings, Mary Conrad, Roberta Kuhn (Chester), Kevin Newell (Laura) and Edward Newell (Vicky). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18th 2024 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Homes (121 School St, Canso, NS B0H1H0). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Star of the Sea Parish. A prayer will be held on Saturday, October 19th 2024 from 12:10 PM to 12:20 PM at the Star of the Sea Cemetery.
