He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, David Schrader and Amanda Schrader (Snyder); his sister Nora Martin (Schrader); his daughters, Judith (Lake Charlotte) of Truro, Tracy of Truro, Shelley of Truro and Deborah (Little Dover); his stepchildren, John, Canso, Carol Anne and Owlshead; his wife Jean (Borden); and his siblings, Herman "Spud" and Mary.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit of St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
