He was predeceased by: his parent Henry Tanner; his wife Shirley Tanner; and his siblings, Frances MacDonald, Mable MacDonald, Charlotte Tanner, Lila Gaulton, Joan Morrow, Sylvia Selig and Ronald Tanner.

He is survived by: his parent Mary Tanner; his children, Sharon Veinotte (Wayne) of Oak Hill, Debra Spataro of Moncton, NB and Paul of Bridgewater; his grandchildren, Tosha, Scott, Vicki, Alicia, Candida, Carlo, Justine, Jordan and Makayla; his great grandchildren, Carrie, Tyler, Madison, Liam, Myles, Lauren, Reed, Mason and Elliott; and his siblings, Ruth Dalton of Yarmouth and Gerald Tanner (Joan).
