He was predeceased by: his parents, John R Cameron and Margaret (Peggy); his daughter Judy; and his brothers, Peter Haines, Bernard Cameron and Robert Cameron.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Noah, Alice, Charlotte, Sam and James; his daughters, Fiona and Janet; his siblings, Victor Haines, Ronald Cameron, Donald Cameron, Jim Cameron, David Cameron, Thomas Cameron, MJ Whittaker and Elizabeth Turney; his close friend Anne Rice; and also, Susan Witherly, Kate Witherly and Matthew Witherly (Nettie Morine). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
