He was predeceased by: his parents, Lynwood Hathaway Rice and Emily Morrison Rice (Ritchie); his wife Pauline; his son-in-law Ronald Batson; and his siblings, Frank Rice and Marion Wagg.

He is survived by: his children, Cathy Batson of Bridgetown and Albert (Carol) of Bridgetown; and his siblings, Katherine Kaulbach, Eileen Barclay, Toronto, Edward Rice (Marilyn) of Moncton, NB, Lynwood Junior Rice (Barb) and Lequille. He is also survived by five grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
