He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Phinney and Leta Phinney (Poole); and his sisters, Gertrude, Phyllis, Evelyn, Marion and Joan.
He is survived by: his wife Linda (Morrison); his children, Verney (Luna) of Florida, Julie Hannam (Cecil) of West Dalhousie, Daniel (Cathy) of Bridgetown and Elizabeth (Darren) of Charlie Lake, BC; his grandchildren, Rick Hannam (Melanie), Erin Emond (Marc), Ashley Phinney (Jared) and Kally Phinney; his great grandchildren, Dylan Hannam, Vincent, Thomas Emond, Daynah Hall and Callum White; and his siblings, Barb Cress (Andy), Sandra Laing (Colin) and Bob (Lynn). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
