He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard and Ethel Avery Bruce (Laffin); his grandparents, Bert and Gertrude Laffin; and his brothers, Laurie and Richard Laffin.

He is survived by: his former wife Jacqueline Avery (Frosst); his children, Bruce (Debbie Fraser) and Melissa (Kevin Zinck); his grandchildren, Dustin, Jake (Brianna Taylor), Brandie, Brittany, Sara and Jason; his great grandchildren, Nicole, Jaxon and Carson; and his siblings, Douglas (Patricia) of Terence Bay, Grant (Maureen) of Dartmouth, David of Dartmouth, Marsha Thibideau (John) of Annapolis Valley and Cheryl Sarazin (Carl) of Ottawa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
