Paul Arnold Robar Obituary
ROBAR, Paul Arnold ~ It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, Paul Arnold Robar, age 93 of Fundy Villa, Berwick, on January 10th, 2022, just 2 months shy of his 94th birthday. Dad was born March 10th, 1928 to the late Albert and Wilma (Acker) Robar of Dalhousie, NS. Dad moved to Lake Paul with his wife Marjorie (Tupper) Robar in 1951, in the home that Dad built until 1999 when they purchased a house in Aylesford. In Dad's younger years he worked at Lutz's sawmill in Lake Paul and in logging with his Dad.
He spent several years sheep farming. In 1968 Dad and brother -in-law, Ronald purchased their first skidder, and contracted for Scott Paper Ltd. In 1971 they formed the company Lake Paul Pulp and Logging. Dad retired from this business in 1986. After retiring he went into full time Christmas Tree growing and ran U-Pick U Cut Robar's Christmas Tree farm and sometimes Santa would stop by. Retiring from that when he moved to Aylesford in 1999 at age 71. Dad was a member of the Aylesford Lions Club for 10 years, King Lion from 1974 – 1975 and president of the Lake Paul/Lake George community center for 17 years.
He was also a member of the Lake Paul/Morristown Baptist Churches for many years where he held several positions. Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and helping others. After moving to Aylesford he took up the hobby of wood working. In April of 2017, Dad moved to Fundy Villa in Berwick where he enjoyed playing cards with people from the Villa and attending community card parties. He is survived by daughters, Carolyn (LaVerne Gould deceased), Marlene (Neil Smith deceased), Christine (Don), Velvet (Glenn), grandchildren, Andy (Colleen), Barb (Mike), Lynn (Dave), Norah (Kevin), Emmah (Ben), Jillian (Carl), Jocelyn (Mike), Bronson (Jill), 11 great-grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, many old friends and many new friends that he made attending card parties and special friend Alice.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie, 3 siblings in infancy, sisters Marjorie, Winnie and their husbands, Vic, Ronald, ex son-in-law, Alfred Bezanson, LaVerne's sons, David and Tommie Gould, nephews Percy and Wayne Hubley. Donations in memory can be made to Nature Conservancy of Canada or Lake Paul/Lake George Community Centre. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home; 398 Main Street toll free 1-855-825-3448. There will be a funeral service, by invitation only at 11:00 AM Friday, January 21, 2022, in the Middleton Funeral Home with Rev. Sarah Scott officiating.
Proof of vaccine, ID and hand sanitizing will be required. There will be a live streaming of the service for those unable to attend. Interment will be in the Morristown Cemetery.
