He was predeceased by: his parents, James Smith and Flora Smith (Richardson); and his siblings, Carl, Clarence (Juanita), John, Lawrence and Winnifred 'Winnie' O'Leary (Reginald).

He is survived by: his wife Pamela Smith (Hendsbee); his children, Jared Smith (Mandy) and Andrea Ward (Adam); his grandchildren, Aubrey and Alani Ward; and his siblings, James (Linda), Cecil (Theresa), Stanley 'Huck' (Hattie) and Lynn Childs (Michael).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norm's name to the North End Community Health Centre, specifically the Mobile Outreach Street Help Program (MOSH).
