He was predeceased by: his parents, John Carey and Marie Carey; and his siblings, Tommy, Mike, Josie and Mary.

He is survived by: his significant other Theresa; his children, Peter (Michelle), Clara (Aaron) and Joelle (Brandon); his grandchildren, Grace, Lauren (Peter) and Sloane (Joelle); and his sisters, Marg (Rick) and Joan. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, and friends.
