He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor DeCoste and Margaret "Maggie" DeCoste (Casey); and his siblings, Agatha, Kathleen, Patricia, Adeline and Gerard.

He is survived by: his children, Donnie DeCoste (Rajinder), Edmonton, Julene DeCoste (Garry), Jason DeCoste (Sue), Lloydminster and Jacqueline Cleary (Bradley); his grandchildren, Carlee DeCoste, Kyle (Krysten Pettipas), Sam (Cordell DeCoste), Jenna and Joanna (Julia Cleary); the mothers of children, Naomi DeCoste and Manassette Lake; his siblings, Dolly Fraser (Jack), Barbara Spin, Theresa Kelly (Dennis), Rita Meagher (Philip) and Michael DeCoste; his siblings-in-law, Arthur Williams, Louis Brow and Loretta "Sandy" DeCoste; and his niece Nicole Meagher. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to St. Paul's Luncheon Fund or to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish.
