He was predeceased by: his significant other Mabel Arsenault (Grant); his parents, Wilfred Francis Arsenault and Jean Arsenault (Carberry); and his siblings, Rose Marie and Edward.

He is survived by: his siblings, Phil (Mary Margaret), Joan (late Wayne), Evangeline (late Maurice), Yvonne (Charlie) and Dianne (Benny); his sister-in-law Theresa; his sons, Brent Kamloops (Sonja) and Duane Airdrie (Tara); his grandchildren, Mckenna, Jake, Carter Joe and Grayson; and his niece Lisa Tramble.

Joe supported so many causes in Antigonish with a carving or donation without a second thought.
