She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward MacDonald and Margaret E. MacDonald; her siblings, John, Frank and Margaret; her uncle John Marr; and her cousin Lawrence Marr.
She is survived by: her significant other Basil; her children, Sharmaine Shea (Mike), Lesterdale, Shauna Mendelson (Morrie) of Grand Bay, NB and Shawn Welsh (Alana Turnbull); her grandchildren, Arielle Mendelson, Tristan and Hudson Welsh; her sister Lorraine Scott of Stoney Creek, ON; her nieces, Christal Scott (Angelo Unelli) of Hamilton, ON and Chantal Scott of Beamsville, ON; and her great-nephew Michael Urbshas of Beamsville, ON.. She is also survived by brothers and sisters in law; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the C. L. Curry Funeral Home (135 College St, Antigonish, NS B2G1X9). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Patrick's Church. A burial will be held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at the Patrick's Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Joan may be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Guysborough Food Bank.
