He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Melanson and Josephine Melanson (Durant). He is survived by: his wife Diane (Levangie); his daughter Rachel White (Stephen) of South River; his grandsons, Ryan and Declan; his stepgrandsons, Robert and Riley Noble; his siblings, Wilfred of Tracadie, Mary Ann Melanson of Pomquet, Jean Grant, Barbara Coffin and Regina; and his sister-in-law Isabel Levangie.
