He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Lays and Margaret Lays (Cameron); his children-in-law, Ronald James McIsaac and Jacqueline Layes (Dick); his siblings, John, Lawrence, Laura MacLean, Bernard, Alex, Danny, Alec, Marilyn Wallace and Carol Wallace; and his siblings-in-law, Leonard Wallace, Jean Wallace, Cathy Layes and Shirley Layes.
He is survived by: his children, Margaret McIsaac (Ronald), Francis Layes (Jacqueline), Robert Layes (Mary MacLellan), Shirley Wright (Stan) and Lower South River; his grandchildren, Lacey Bowman, Kayla Layes (Paul Rogers), Charley Bowman (Shawn Doyle) and Kelsey Bowman-White (William); his great grandchild Alexander Doyle; his pets, Hadley and Zeus; his brothers, Billy (Shirley), Melvin (Doris) and Jimmy; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Layes, Rose Layes (John), Ethel Layes (Lawrence) and Robert 'Bob' MacLean (Laura).
Due to current Covid-19 protocols, a private family service will be held.
Donations may be made to St. Martha's Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
