He was predeceased by: his parents, Captain Sylvester and Mary Dunphy (LeBlanc); his wife Margaret (Campbell); his son Michael; and his siblings, Freeman (Lila), Howard (Juanita) and Arthena Higgins (Hugh).

He is survived by: his children, Susan Canavan (Michael) of Fall River, Robert (Nancy) of Antigonish, Anne McKenna (Daniel) of Antigonish and Joan Grant (Ed) of Antigonish; his daughter-in-law Sheila Dunphy of Halifax; his grandchildren, Paul Dunphy (Robin), Robert Dunphy (Erica), Kelly Michelin (Jeff), John Canavan (Kait), Mary Canavan, Adam Dunphy, Corinne Dunphy (Michael), Maria, Bobby Dunphy (Jean), Jessica Syer (Adam), Eric, McKenna (Arabella), Sarah Harmes (Andrew), Jed Grant and Jaime Weeks (Blair); and his great grandchildren, Emerson, Charlie Dunphy, Duke, Bowden Dunphy, Georgia, Michael Michelin, Addison Dunphy, Greta, Emmy Joy Murphy, Harrison, Islay Syer and Baby Harmes. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
