He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Layes and Margaret Layes (Cameron); his siblings, John, Lawrence, Laura MacLean, Alex, Danny, Alec, Mary and Carol; and his granddaughter Katrina Halfpenny.
He is survived by: his wife Ethel (Breen); his children, Darlene Halfpenny (Mike), Pleasant Valley, Donnie, Susan Chisholm (Hugh) and Afton; his grandchildren, Sheena Halfpenny (Andrew MacDougall), Daniel Halfpenny and Rebecca Wile (Brandon); his great grandchildren, Leyera and Jasper; his siblings, Francis, Billy, Melvin, Jimmy, Berkley and Aileen; and his brother-in-law Bob MacLean.
