He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Sarty and Myrtle Sarty (Guest); his wife Neva Mae Sarty (Hudson); and his siblings, Alberta, Reginald, Raymond, Lillian, Eileen and Wayne.

He is survived by: his children, Shelley Longmire (Vaughn) of Ardoise, Christopher Sarty (Angela) of Hillsburn and Cynthia Pettipas (Robert) of Deep Brook; his grandchildren, Devan Longmire (Lisa), Keshia Hawkins (Jacob), Alyssa Thibault (Joel) and Dylan Pettipas (Calista); his great grandchildren, Allison, Lauren Hawkins and Jace Thibault; and his brother Gerald Sarty. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations in Lewis's memory may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
