He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Mitchell and Christina "Tena" Mitchell (MacDonald); his former wife Ramona (Campbell); and his sister Evelyn McArthur. He is survived by: his wife Beatrice of East Amherst; his daughter Cathy Sangster (Gary); his grandsons, Joe of Halifax and Chris (Ange) of Beaver Bank; and his stepsons, Stephen Bird (Sandra) and Paul Bird (Elaine).
