He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Gilroy and Catherine Gilroy (Dow); his daughter Faye; and his siblings, Raymond, Ethel, Jean, Annie and Doris.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ferguson; his children, Larry Gilroy (Karin), Leigh Gilroy (Marney), Jeannie Gray (Derek), Perry Gilroy and Colin Ferguson (Carol); his grandchildren, Mark, Christopher, Andrew, Brandon, Katie, Sarah and Mitchell; his great grandchildren, Anna, Jacob, Theodore, Kaylie, Jayce, Aleena, Everly and Evan; and his siblings, Gordon, John, Lloyd, Lester, Mary, Betty, Marjorie and Eleanor.
