He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronie Porter and Amelia Porter (Smith); his wife Joan Porter (Trueman); and his children, Peggy Richard, Heather Ripley and Terry Ripley.

He is survived by: his daughters, Joanne Menzies (Jack) of Rusagonis, N. B, Charlene Nelson (Bruce) of Port Howe, N. S and Debbie McKillop (Robert) of Boundary Creek, N. B; his son-in-law Gordon Ripley of Fenwick, N. S.; his grandchildren, Terran Pitre (Tim), Kevin Menzies, Tammy Cameron, Denise McComb (Daniel), Christine Nelson (Chris Frank), Willis Ripley (Ginny), Terry Ripley (Jessica), Michelle Wilband (Jason), Krista McKillop (Marty), Sean Spicer, Daniel Spicer and Angela Spicer; his great grandchildren, Josh, Matthew, Savanah, Chase, Alden, Ivy, Addison, Melody, Colin, Austin, Jasmine and Dawson; his great great grandchild Charlotte; his son-in-law Dave Richard; and his brothers, Cyril Porter and Clayton Porter.
