He was predeceased by: his parents, Randell Gavel and Mirtise Gavel (Halbert); and his siblings, Abigia, Donald, Herman, Eudora Bergen, Audrey Halliday, Jennie and Lennie.

He is survived by: his wife Pat (Everill); his children, Keith Gavel of Greenwood, NS and Kim LeBlanc (Elton); his grandson Tyler (Lindsay Richards); his stepgrandchildren, Amanda, Serena, Emma, Hannah, Makenna and Dawson; and his pet Bandit. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

Memorial contributions in Darrell's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
