He was predeceased by: his parents, Rexford Pettis and Evelyn Pettis (Hughes); his wife Alice Cathryn Stiles; and his sister Kathryn (Al Wry). He is survived by: his children, Brian, Elizabeth (Danny), Karen Falle (Steve Ferguson) and Mary Brown (Jim); and his sister Ina Bowser of Amherst. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Ed's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cumberland Regional Health Care Foundation.
