He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Smith and Florence Smith (Hashey); his wife Margaret Smith (Landry); his son David; and his siblings, Joseph, Robert, Donald, Ronald, Elizabeth, Shirley and Mary.

He is survived by: his children, Tracy Brooks of Amherst, Debbie Landry (Chuck Goodwin) of Amherst, Stephen of Amherst, Todd of Amherst, Wendy Smith and Sharon Boucher (John); his siblings, William (Diane) of Amherst, Jack (Pat) of Amherst, Diane MacLeod (Fraser), June Perry, Rose Smith (Betty) of Riverview, NB, Eleanor Borden, Vincent and Alberta; and his close friend Shirley Seymour of Amherst. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
