He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Baxter and Jean Baxter (Rogerson); and his brother Robert. He is survived by: his children, Joel, Ellen (Nick Grant) and Tidnish; his grandsons, Emmett and Noah; his siblings, Carl (James Baltus) and Betty King; and his sister-in-law Connie Baxter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
